Boeuf a la Bourguignonne

Another word for this dish is BEAUTIFUL or shall we say, "BON APETIT!!"  This is a dish I've mentioned as one of my favorites and it still is.  Surprise, surprise.  I made this dish again for my mom for Mother's Day.  Always a good thing to appreciate your mom, and what better way to do this than to cook a delectable meal for her?!  I tweaked the recipe a little bit but I have a feeling our friend, Julia Childs, won't mind.  I've heard it been said that she was known for believing that there are many ways to do things and let me tell you, this turned out so mouth-wateringly wonderful and comforting that it was worth every minute of the 4.5 hour prep and cook time.  I will post the recipe I used later, but for now, fellow foodies, I will leave you with this picture to abate your appetites:

I also made some rosemary and thyme roasted red potatoes to go along with it, as you can see.  The thyme was wonderful because it perfectly complimented the seasonings in the meat.  Let it be said, however, that this dish doesn't even need a side dish to compliment it.  It is one of those rare treasures that can stand alone and make you feel like you've arrived, back in time, at Grandma's house as a child and she is showering you with love, lessons, and of course, comfort food.  And, I say HAT'S OFF to a dish that can do all of that!!!!

Enjoy, and as always, HAPPY EATING!
